Generic Access Platform (GAP) Enclosure Specification
This specification is intended to standardize a mechanical clamshell housing, the Generic Access Platform (GAP) Enclosure, and associated internal interfaces to enable a common platform for use in a wide variety of outside plant applications.
Generic Access Platform (GAP) Modules Specification
This document details the requirements placed on interoperable modules for use in the Generic Access Platform (GAP) Enclosure including physical, electrical, environmental constraints and module communications mechanisms. GAP Modules complying to the requirements in this document are expected to exhibit a baseline physical and logical interoperability when combined in a GAP compliant node enclosure. Extended interoperability testing and validation is supported through the Systems Integrator role and related SCTE best practices documentation.
Generic Access Platform (GAP) Systems Integrator Best Practices
This document is written in conjunction with the other Generic Access Platform (GAP) specifications and details the requirements placed on systems integrators tasked with performing functions such as design, installation, testing and deployment of a GAP system. Extended interoperability testing and validation is supported through the Systems Integrator role and related SCTE best practices documentation.

What is GAP?
SCTE formed the Generic Access Platform (GAP) Working Group to accelerate innovation by defining common interfaces within node housings that support plug-in modules conforming to the GAP’s physical, thermal, mechanical and electrical specifications.
The GAP initiative is designed to enable MSOs to work with best-of-breed vendors to add new functions and services to access nodes through simple in-field module or software upgrades. This open, modular and standardized approach allows cable operators to accelerate technology updates, deliver multiple services utilizing a single node platform, facilitate the migration to an edge-computing model, reduce inventory and increase service velocity.
